Flooring for Small Spaces

Just because your space doesn’t have a high square footage, doesn’t mean it has to look like a closet. Here are some flooring tips to create the illusion of a bigger space.

Narrow Width

It becomes especially important in a smaller space to make the most out of your room, physically and visually. In many scenarios, floors with less visual width stretch the space, making it appear bigger.

Light Shades

A small space turns into a closet all too quickly without a proper abundance of lighting. But aside from blasting bright light, how do you avoid making a small room feel claustrophobic?

  1. Light flooring tones make a room feel larger by reflecting light into the room and by creating an “open” visual.

  2. If you prefer dark flooring, try complimenting it with white walls and lots of internal and external light!

Direction

Another way to visually expand your room is to focus on the direction in which your flooring is laid. By placing the planks parallel to the longest wall of the room, you create an optical illusion in which your eye thinks there is more space in the room.

However, when all is said and done, all that matters is that you’re happy with the look of your home. Making you happy makes us happy!
